It's Friday. Max, Olga and Dmitri are in their team chat on Friday morning. The release is planned for 6pm.
Olga: Oh God
Max: Calm down!
Dmitri: What's wrong?
• What's the problem in the morning?
• Where are Max and Dmitri today?
• Do they release on time?
Olga · 09:02 Morning. Status, please. The release is at 6 pm.
Max · 09:05 Morning! Bad news. The test server is down. I'm on it.
Olga · 09:06 Down? Again?
Max · 09:08 Not sure why yet. I'm checking the logs now.
Dmitri · 09:11 Good morning, everyone! I'm not in the office today. I'm at home because my daughter is ill. But don't worry, I'm online and I'm testing the payment fix right now. It's a big fix, so it takes time. I test every screen twice.
Olga · 09:12 Fine. Max, the office says you're in Limassol this week.
Max · 09:14 Yes, I'm in Limassol until Sunday. The internet here is fast, and I work better by the sea. 😄
Olga · 09:15 I don't care about the sea. I care about the server.
Max · 11:40 I'm a backend developer, not a magician 🙂 But the server is up again. The problem is the database. It doesn't start after the update, so I'm restarting it by hand for now.
Dmitri · 11:45 Great news! The payment fix is ready. Well, almost ready. The login page is still slow. I don't know why. It isn't my code, I think.
Olga · 11:47 It isn't anybody's code until somebody fixes it. Max, take it.
Max · 11:50 I'm looking at it now. The login page calls the database ten times. It only needs one call. I'm not touching the payment code, Dmitri, don't worry.
Olga · 15:58 Max. It's almost six. I'm not happy.
Max · 16:03 The fix works on my laptop. The tests are still running. They usually take an hour.
Olga · 16:05 We don't release on Fridays without tests. New plan: the release is on Monday.
Max · 16:06 Good. Then I'm at the beach tomorrow. 🏖️
Olga · 16:06 You're a developer. You're on call this weekend.
Dmitri · 16:08 I'm not on call! Just checking. I don't work at weekends. My family doesn't let me.
