The Final Plate
a careful cook · cooks carefully
A2 · 60 minutes
Four cooks face the judges on a TV cooking show, and only two can go to the final. Students rank TV competitions, predict what can go wrong in a one-hour cooking challenge, then read the judges' comments to decide who goes through. They work out when to say "a careful cook" and when "cooks carefully", learn well, fast, hard and late, and why a cake "looks beautiful". Then they act out everyday actions in the way of a secret word for the class to guess, and judge each other's performances like the judges on the show.
