A call to lost luggage

AGENT Good morning, Skyway Airlines lost luggage. How can I help?

MARTA Hello. I flew from Lisbon this morning, and my suitcase isn't here.

AGENT I'm sorry. Can you describe the suitcase?

MARTA It's red, quite big, with a small white ribbon on it.

AGENT And what's inside?

MARTA Er... a pair of jeans, some T-shirts (three, I think), a green dress, a grey cardigan and a jacket.

AGENT Any shoes?

MARTA Yes, a pair of trainers and some sandals. Oh, and my pyjamas. And socks and underwear, of course.

AGENT Any jewellery or accessories?

MARTA A silver necklace and some earrings (a present from my grandmother). And a scarf and a belt.

THE THREE VERBS

• wear for clothes, jewellery and glasses: She's wearing boots.

• carry for bags and cases: I'm carrying a black bag.

• dress (no object) for the general style: He dresses very well.

a pair of

for clothes with two parts or two legs: a pair of jeans / trousers / tights / shorts / socks / shoes / trainers / boots / gloves / earrings.

These words are plural: My jeans ARE in the suitcase (not is).
